Today, investment data is what drives the relationship between investment manager and client. As the importance of data as a marketing tool has increased in recent years, so has SEC scrutiny.

In late 2020, the SEC released final guidance with regard to overdue changes to its decades-old advertising rules. Under the new proposals, it’s clear that investment data, published to investment industry databases will clearly fall within the new regulations.

So what should investment managers know about investment data compliance?
